Inspiring Teens to turn their "Youthfluence" Into Action
Big Orbit chosen to design a dynamic Online Community for the Institute on Governance, Citizenship and Immigration Canada and UNESCO

Toronto, ON - October 3, 2000 - Big Orbit has produced a fresh face for sponsored by Citizenship and Immigration Canada in collaboration with the Institute on Governance, a non-profit group studying governance issues, including youth-related topics and UNESCO, the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

This dynamic, youth-driven online initiative comprised of over 200 distinct interest groups -- including aboriginal youth, gay rights and youth in care -- inspires young people to think about what it means to be Canadian, what it means to be a good citizen, and how government works to affect positive change.

The site functions as a doorway to youth organizations and services and a meeting place to share ideas and work with other people who want to be heard. Enhanced user tools and a powerful graphic design featuring audio and video from the participants, re-positions as an exciting youth-oriented destination.

Big Orbit used its extensive insight into the teen/young adult market to develop a "look and feel" for that appeals to this age group and exudes the enthusiasm and curiosity inherent to this generation. The site will target youth organizations, high school and post-secondary students, their teachers and key stakeholders in the youth field.

The partnership between Big Orbit and the Institute on Governance will continue to produce technological innovation on the site including: streaming audio and video, 'build your own community' templates, simultaneous translation, online surveys and polls, message boards and chat rooms as it seeks additional funding commitments from several branches of the federal government and the private sector.

Big Orbit's Business Development Director, Eric Huurre, states, "We see many well-intended projects from dedicated organizations concerned about youth, but Youthfluence offers Canada's young people the best platform for responsible action we've seen."
